Referring Physicians

The world-renowned experts at the OSUCCC – James are transforming the way cancers are prevented, detected, treated and, yes, cured.

Cancer is complex, and today, cancer is no longer solely defined by location or even by stage – there is no routine cancer. Each patient’s cancer is different, acting and reacting differently to the bodies they’re in and the treatments aimed at stopping them.

At the OSUCCC – James, we know there is no routine cancer, and our internationally recognized multidisciplinary teams include surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, oncology nurses, researchers, genomics experts and more – each of whom specialize in just one type of cancer. These teams offer all newly diagnosed patients an on-site, thorough evaluation and treatment-options review with experts who collaborate to understand your patient’s cancer at the molecular and genetic levels -- and to develop and deliver the world’s most targeted therapies.

The OSUCCC – James is one of only 46 comprehensive cancer centers in the nation, as designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Our experts include more than 300 cancer researchers from 12 of the 15 colleges at Ohio State. Additionally, our 200 subspecialized oncologists team up to translate laboratory and clinical studies into innovative targeted treatments that lead to improved outcomes, faster responses, fewer side effects and more hope.

Patients have access to advanced treatment procedures performed only at the OSUCCC – James by internationally recognized cancer specialists and subspecialists. And as one of only a few cancer centers in the country funded by the National Cancer Institute to conduct both phase I and phase II clinical trials, we offer your patients access to some of the country’s most advanced clinical trials right here at the OSUCCC – James, ensuring that additional options, when needed, are often available for their treatment and care.

In fact, the OSUCCC – James offers patients access to more clinical trials than nearly any other cancer hospital in the region and more of the most targeted, most effective treatment options, many of which are available only at the OSUCCC – James.
